While the end of summer is never welcome in my book, there is one redeeming quality to the change of seasons: pumpkin.
Now, pumpkin is weirdly polarizing. There are those who itch to pop on their Uggs and flannel for a pumpkin spiced latte outing. Then, there are those that hate those Ugg-wearing-pumpkin-spiced-drinking folks. I’m personally a big fan of pumpkin-flavored-everything so this post is for all those who are in the same boat.
Disclaimer: this is a little different than most of our nutrition-focused blog posts but if we can’t have a little fun with our food, what’s the point?
Here are our favorite pumpkin-flavored finds from Trader Joe’s:
Pumpkin Nonfat Greek Yogurt
I know, it sounds gross and, to be fair, I haven’t actually tried it yet but the consensus so far has been positive around this higher-protein snack.
Pumpkin Spice RxBar
The foundational recipe for RxBars are egg whites for protein, dates to bind, and nuts for texture. This flavor of the bar also adds in pumpkin, cinnamon, and cloves for a really seasonal treat that also packs in 12 grams of protein.
Gluten-Free Pumpkin Spice Bagels
Gluten-free friends, rejoice! Trader Joe’s created a gluten-free version of their ever-popular pumpkin bagels.
You can toast and top with melted butter, or be extra-extra and spread Pumpkin Butter. All the carbs in that would make a perfect post-workout snack.
Pumpkin Spice Rooibos Tea
This tea doesn’t taste pumpkin-y per se, but it’s a solid rooibos tea with added cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
Pumpkin Spice Coffee
Arabica coffee with added cinnamon, clove, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice leaves for a really interesting morning treat.
Pumpkin Dog Treats
Dogs typically love pumpkin and actual pumpkin can be really beneficial to their digestive system — but we don’t know how much actual pumpkin is used in this recipe so let’s just say they’ll likely enjoy the taste of these treats.
Pumpkin Body Butter
Well, obviously you don’t eat this but if you love pumpkin so much that you’d want to smell like it, then this is for you. This thick body butter is made with coconut oil, shea butter, and pumpkin seed oil.
‘This Pumpkin Walks into a Bar’ Cereal Bars
These are the Trader Joe’s version of Nutri Grain bars. Except this one is filled with a super gooey concoction of real pumpkin and pumpkin spices.
Organic Pumpkin Flavored Frosted Toaster Pastries
These are the Trader Joe’s version of PopTarts. I definitely recommend toasting these babies up.
Pecan Pumpkin Instant Oatmeal
While still delicious, the flavor of the pecan certainly comes through much stronger than that of the pumpkin, but this is still a delicious fall treat.
Pumpkin Spice Granola Bark
This bark is made with crunchy granola, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, coconut oil, and pumpkin season spices. Then once it’s baked, it’s spread with dark chocolate and topped with maple-sea-salt-seasoned pumpkin seeds. Drooling yet?
Pumpkin O’s Whole Grain Cereal
These are the Trader Joe’s version of Cheerios. It’s toasted whole grain cereal made with brown rice, oats, and real pumpkin. They are low fat, vegan, and gluten-free.
