While taking the first step in working with a nutrition coach to help with your goals is a big deal, that’s just the beginning of the journey. While our nutritional philosophy allows a lot of flexibility and leeway, there is definitely an element of dedication required for you to be successful in reaching your goals.
We’ve been doing this long enough now to notice the habits of our most successful clients, which we strongly believe to be a major contributor to their progress in working with us.
OUR MOST SUCCESSFUL CLIENTS…
⚡️ CHECK-IN WEEKLY WITH THEIR COACH
Our most successful clients make a point to check-in with their coach every single week, even if there’s not much to report or they had a bad week. It’s much harder for us to figure out how to best help you if we’re only getting sporadic updates. Plus, irregular check-ins require we spend our time chasing you down when we could be using that time to help you succeed and work through whatever you’re struggling with.
⚡️ ARE NOT PERFECT WITH THEIR NUTRITION
This may come as a surprise but we find that those who never allow themselves the occasional off-day are the first to eventually burn out. The biggest disservice you can make to yourself is to expect perfection every single day. What matters is not perfection, it is consistency. So, if you had a bad day of hitting your numbers or needed a mental rest day, that is okay. It’s actually part of the process.
⚡️ ARE HONEST WITH THEIR COACH
We can’t help you with what we don’t know. If you’re doctoring your food logs, lying on your daily macro tracker, or not doing whatever habit-based goal your coach assigned to you, you’re setting both you and your coach up for failure. Just tell your coach what you’re struggling with and work together to get around it. There’s no judgement.
⚡️ ALLOW HUMAN CONNECTION WITH THEIR COACH
This process isn’t always going to be easy but your coach is your go-to person in helping you navigate. Our FYF coaches are trained to practice human connection, not just give a nutrition plan and send you on your way. They will be your steady source of support so allow them to connect with you and guide you around obstacles you have specific to YOUR life.
⚡️ DON’T HAVE AN ALL-OR-NOTHING ATTITUDE
The biggest disservice you can do to yourself is expect perfection. Your life isn’t going to be perfect. Things will get crazy with work, family, etc. but if you just push your health goals to the side every time the stars aren’t perfectly aligned, you’re setting yourself up to be stuck in this yo-yo lifestyle. The key into creating a sustainable lifestyle is for you to learn how to navigate through the craziness with the help of your coach.
⚡️ ASK WHY
Your coach will always do their best to explain why they created a strategy, task, or goal for you but it’s important that you ask questions. We’re not here to dictate goals for you. We’re here to educate you so that you walk away from this experience with the knowledge to handle your nutrition on your own so if there’s something you need more clarity on, don’t be afraid to ask. It’s much easier to accomplish tasks when you understand the purpose behind them.
⚡️ DON’T OBSESS OVER THE END GOAL
This is not a quick-fix strategy to losing 10 pounds. That’s just not what we do. Our purpose is to help you accomplish your goals in a healthy, sustainable way and that takes time, so if you’re constantly asking questions like “Will I have a six-pack by January 6th” then we need to reframe your mindset and help you focus on the wins in the process. Obsessing over the end goal only leads to frustration and, eventually, burnout.
